Introduction to Gothenburg Horse Show



Gothenburg Horse Show ranks among one of the world’s renowned & indoor equestrian competitions that is held every year in Scandinavium Arena. This Annual international event is held in association with the Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping.
The Show incorporates the Word Cup Finals in jumping & dressage & offers classes for young horses, junior riders & young riders & exciting elements such as agility & mounted games. During the event, a certain air of magic & sportsmanship descends over the arena as world’s elite contestants & audience fill Scandinavium.
Simultaneously, the Euro Horse Trade Fair is organized at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre.
Insight into the History & Hall of Fame- Gothenburg Horse Show
The Gothenburg Horse Show was forged in year 1977 to host the world’s best horse racing in jumping, however dressage was later added to the show.
In order to pay tribute to lauded profiles of the event, Gothenburg Horse Show 2019 authorities have rolled out the GHS Hall of Fame. Some of the honorary selected for GHS Hall of Fame are:


  1. Jumping: John Whitaker with Ryan’s son finished fifth in history’s first World Cup Final in Jumping in spring 1979. John Whitaker was only 23 years old then.
In year 1996, Rolf Göran Bengtsson with Paradiso became the first Swede in 20 long years of competition to win the Gothenburg Trophy. Rolf Göran won the same class again in year 2005 & became the first Swede to have acquired European Championship gold in 2011.
  1. Dressage: In 1998, Louis Nathhorst with Walk on Top became the first Swedish to win the World Cup Final in dressage. Louis & Walk on Top have together won EM & the World Cup Bronze Teams for Sweden. The Seven-time Swedish Champion, Louis Nathhorst, is a successful coach today.
  2. Profiles: Two key people who made an intriguing contribution in the creation & later development of Gothenburg Horse Show were Liz & Lasse Parmler. Lasse was the first competition leader at GHS, a participant in the international classes & speaker for SVT’s guarding of the competitions.
